NIC DB server service will not start
Fact
enVision
NIC DB Server
Symptom
NIC DB server service will not start
Fix
NIC DB server service would not start.
First, check the disk space on the drive, and free space as needed.
Next check the log files from the enVision\logs folder. If the pi_alerter.log file indicates that there was a database error: not connected to a database, this means that the database is corrupt. Here are the steps to follow to get the database back working.
1. Stop all the NIC Services in Window services
2. Under %_ENVISION%\database, copy the nic.db and nic.log to a temp folder, once that is done delete those 2 files from %_ENVISION%\database
3. Copy the nic.db from the %_ENVISION%\database\dbbkup folder to %_ENVISION%\database folder
4. Open a command prompt and go to %_ENVISION%\bin\ASA\win32 and run dbsrv9 -f %_ENVISION%\database\nic.log. This will create a new nic.log file. You will see the screen flash for a moment.
5. Start the services and you should be all set.
