Symptom

How do I obtain a permanent license key for my appliance?

Fix

enVision licenses have been made available to our customers via OSD (online software distribution).

Customers will receive an email confirmation once the license/s are made available to the customer through our On-line Software Distribution process (OSD). An Additional

email called the "Welcome to Download Central" will be sent to the customer containing a link as well as the proper download credentials.

If you have not received a license, or you need to order a new license you may contact COM Exceptions Desk mailbox (Americas or Latin America), EMEA Exceptions Desk mailbox (Europe) or Asia Exceptions Desk mailbox (Asia Pacific) for a license.

Obtain the Following Information:

1. Who you are (Name, Company information, address, email, etc.)

2. Your appliance serial number.

3. Your appliance host ID.

4. The version of Envision you are installing.

5. The type of appliance (EX, HA, ES, or if an LS configuration, the node - AS, DS, LC, etc.)

6. The sales order reference

The licence will be made available for download typically within 72 hours

Finding Your Serial Number

Providing the appliance has not been re-imaged since first dispatch you will find the serial number in the file;

C:\WINNT\System32\drivers\etc\NIE-OE.dat

Look around the 3rd or 4th line for a an entry that starts off S/N=

If you have 50-Series hardware, the serial number is located on the back of the appliance on a white sticker and will start off with the letters NNG.

If this is a 60-Series hardware (Dell Appliance) you can open Dell OpenManage Server Administrator from the start menu, System > Properties > Summary > Chassis Service Tag. The serial number will be a 7 digit alpha-numeric number e.g. "36HTLD1"

Finding Your Hostid

Your host ID is hard-coded and unique to each appliance.

You can display your host ID by running the following command from the \bin directory:

pi_hostid.exe

Send the collected information to the following e-mail address.
