The Services are showing up as Unknown
Fact
RSA enVision
blue icon
Symptom
The Services are showing up as Unknown
Fix
In the Manage Services screen, the status of the servers on one or more of the nodes is showing up as a blue icon, status as unknown.
Verify that the regional settings are correct. This would be date, time, and timezone.
Check the NIC Server service events via the Event Viewer in enVision. There should be NIC events describing the call to the node in question, asking for the status of the services.
Also, verify that there are only enVision servers listed in the Active Directory under Computers. Computers from other domains listed here, will cause this issue.
note
Another reason why this is causing the problem is due to the RPC service on the appliances have crashed / hang
To determine if this is the cause of the issue, on the D-Srv open services.msc. Then on the left hand pane right click on theServices (Local) and select "Connect to another computer". Then select the appliances that have the services report as unknown. See you can connect to it. If you get error "RPC server is not avaialble", then the probelm is confirmed to the a crash / hang issue of the RPC service.
Restart the appliances in fault should able to address the issue

Sometimes this error can occur if you interactively run and "pi_ls_* -v" exe from the wrong node (like to see the verbose errors) and it creates an entry in the iSQL db for that service that is not supposed to be there. Just edit the "alerterServicesConfig" table (if the service is alerter for example) and remove the entry pointing incorrectly. Commit and you mayhave to restart service manager as well.
